We have had sky broadband for about 2 years and never had any problems. Never used anyone else though, so can't comment in comparison to other providers.

Friend of mine just got it, 6mb during the day, barely 1mb after 6pm due to traffic shaping. At 11pm it goes back to 6mb, they are in the process of moving again.

I'm not with Sky, but I have noted in the past is people on Sky internet have complained about slow access to SN (same with PassionFord).

I think that may have been rectified (seperate issue to the current one). But its something to be aware of though.

Cheers chaps.

I have had trouble getting on here in the past couple of weeks but it seems ok now. I'm on orange and it seems ok. Getting Sky HD and seems silly not to get the Broadband for £10.

I had Sky Broadband on an old bundled exchange. It used to be great during the day but in the evenings I swear they throttled it back so much that dial-up would have been quicker!
I'm with Freedom 2 Surf now. No such throttling issues (so far).

Mine doesn't get throttled - at least not that I've noticed

@Sy5
My sky broadband is only £5 per month - fantastic value for money
I do also have skytalk which is probably the reason why its only £5

Urban, if you're only paying £5 then you're on an unbundled exchange and they don't throttle those. I was having to pay £17.99 for Sky Connect.

Used to get 6mb then BT did something to my line and I can only get 3

Changed to Base package (2mb) which I get free - Don't do any downloading and 2mb is fine for me for surfing.

No problems with Sky at all - Get 2mb all day.

OK - Sky's customer service isn't great, infact far from it.
But they're all the same now anyway.
Most big companies redirect you to an Indian call centre

My experience thus far of Sky's customer service is if you get an Indian accent they you're fcuked
If you get a Scottish accent you'll generally get it solved very quickly

Sky Broadband is OK if your just going to surf the net but,if you are a gamer Sky isn't that great because they use interleaving which cause's high ping's.

bluergh Interleaving n throttling, screams of an ISP that can't cope with demand! Like Plusnet. Get a proper ISP with no bandwidth restrictions.

No issues here with Sky Broadband. Had it almost 3 years now. Use it for general surfing and online gaming (PS3).

I haven't heard of a price increase?

My usage doesn't appear to be throttled at home.
How would I know anyway?

OK monthly usage is being dropped from 40Mb to 10Mb, but according to what I know for £10 it goes back to 40Mb
