Thought I'd seen a recent thread about SSDs but can't see it back several weeks so will start a new one. Not a question just a link to an item about a new Micron SSD ... Micron boasts the fastest desktop ssd drives - The Inquirer
Take a look at the Youtube clip contained within the text. If you're looking at whether to go ahead and buy one then the video gives you good reason. And remember that the systems being used are identical and probably fairly up to date. If you're renewing a 5 year old system with a new one that contains an SSD I dare say the performance gains will be that much greater.
Enjoy.

Yup they are faster but they are also new tech for this application, lots of down sides too, nice as it is and quicker it may be but look at the price against a very quick hdd.

I know about the price. But you can get a smaller SSD for the OS and apps. My XP PC is set up like that (but with a smaller Baracuda SATA drive as the OS drive) and I'm running at about 20GB used out of 36GB. But then I don't have any games installed .....

I have the Veloci raptor as above.
My friends have 2 SSD's in RAID.
To be honest there isn't much in it with game loads.
I'm glad I've gone with the disk over SSD - as I think SSD is still maturing.
