![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
If I leave the laptop for a short space of time, the mouse arrow disappears from my screen.
If I am very careful, I can still manage to highlight what I need to do, but closing down is a right pain in the ***.
Any reason why this is happening. Is it the mouse or the laptop???
Strangest thing I have ever seen

Its W7 64 running IE8. If I right clicked and opened in a new tab the cursor disappeared. It was still there, just not visible, if I buggered about with the mouse pad I could work out where the cursor was and close IE and restart it.
Funnily enough it just sorted it self out and is OK now.

I had a similar problem with my laptop recently.

And, yes, if I manage to switch off and back on the cursor is there again.
I've uploaded one of the moving cursors. Looks like it has a wiggly worm on the end of the arrowhead. Seems to be working, for now

Seems like thats what you've already done

to check:
Start > control panel > mouse > pointer option > switch on pointer trails.
once selected you can set how long the trails are on a slider.

Thanks for the help, MMT ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Right,
Options as follows
Select pointer speed, this is set in the middle
Enhance pointer precision is ticked
Snap To:
Automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box, this is not ticked.
Visibility:
Display pointer trails, this is not ticked and set on long
Hide pointer while typing, this is ticked
Show location of pointer when I press CTRL key, this is not ticked.
The wiggly worm seems to be working. Do I need to change any of the above.
Sorry about this

I would change pointer trails to ticked and adjust the slide to suit your own personal preference (try both long and short).
You could also tick - Show location of pointer when I press CTRL key. Then if the pointer disappears again press the CTRL key it will highlight where it is. Give it a go when you've changed it, you can easily change it back.

Thanks for that, MMT. ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Have done what you said. Will see how I get on.
I've just been out for half and hour and when I got back the mouse cursor had gone. Had a right job shutting down the lappy.
And as you say, it comes back when fired up again. Stupid thing that it is
