Default Mem stick

Chaps.

My mem stick is not showing as a drive when inserted in to various computers - at work desktop nor indeed either of the laptops at home?! A tad worrying as my whole life is stored on there & no where else (I know, I know) ... is there any way I can retrieve the situation?

Thanks, TX.

Probably you are putting to various PC at home which using same or similar operating system Vista or W7

Try plug to PC/Laptop with XP,if there will show its OK,if not try these steps Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Disk Management and If the USB stick is listed - right click it > Choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths" >Click "Change" and assign a new unused drive letter, this sometimes help

If will not shown at Disk Management, have look at Device manager what showing there

If these will not help, try download Knoppix Live CD which usually help to recover files

No sign of it under disk management. A yellow "i" appears under device manager within pcmcia & flash memory devices. This is what it says when I click properties:

"Windows cannot determine the settings for this device. Consult the documentation that came with this device and use the Resource tab to set the configuration. (Code 34)"

There is no documentation that came with it. It's a 16gb HP memory stick is all.

I'm seriously confused now, aarrgghh!

OK TX try these steps

1. Plug in USB mem stick
2. Right mouse click on My Computer
3. Left click on Manage
4. Left click on Device Manager
5. Expand the USB list
5. Find the USB device for your USB mem stick
6. Right mouse click - Uninstall
7. Unplug your USB Mem stick
8. Plug your USB mem stick and let it find and install the driver

Hi TX try download Knoppix from link above and boot with this disk inside your CD/DVD drive,at least you can access(and back up your mem stick) to your USB Memory stick.

Something similar i've experiencing on my gf laptop, which have installed Vista, due this i re-installed Vista to W7.

If you have someone with XP,try insert to PC/Laptop with XP,you will see what happens
