Default Email hosting - economical etc

I am in the early stages of setting up a new venture / business and would like to get 2-3 email addresses set up / hosted for me - can anyone recommend a cheap but good/robust service ?
All I need is a few first.last@companyname.com addresses and a hosted way to return emails etc that I receive.

Thanks for any help.

Ro.

I guess they would but not having a website for a while.
Right now I just want email addresses set-up.

Do you have to register a domain name to be able to set up email addresses ? i.e do you have to own www.mycompany.com domain to be able to have firstname.surname@mycompany.com email addresses ?

Yes you do have to own it. Just buy it from 123reg, only costs a few quid. You might want to buy the other domain types as well (.co.uk, .net etc) just so when your new business takes off you don't have some chancer buy one of the domains and try and flog it back to you.
With that in mind, what's the .com address you're after....
