Laptop losing Disc Drive ??

Hi Folks

I'm putting CD's onto Itunes but I noticed after it failed to transfer a song over for some corrupt file reason it then lost the disc drive all together

no signs of it on the laptop and can only get it back by doing a system restore

I have lots of discs to put on so its going to be a long job if this keep happening,

Any ideas as to why its losing the drive altogether ?? and how I can stop it

i had a problem like that when updating Norton and found a Reg edit on the web that fixed it

are you talking about the cd drive? if using vista. it was a common problem. google will get you thw solution(as mentioned usually a registry entry)

I've had this with dell desktops. Common issue. It is fixable, but its been a long time since I've done it, so can't remember exactly. But google should come up with the answer.

As above a simple edit to the registry fixes it.
