It just sounds like you've got the wrong incoming/outgoing server settings.

Who is the host of your email address? Orange, Google etc - we can go from there.

Talktalk is my e-mail host and Orange is my phone provider.

I can send and receive at home so I'm assuming my TT setting for use with my home wi-fi is ok it's when I'm not at home I need to send and receive e-mails through 3G which I assume must be Orange

Thanks for the help Spoon

Sounds like you either do not have a data plan or you have used it all this month.

Take this opportunity to move your email to either Gmail or iCloud. It'll save you a lot of bother in the long run.

You'd be better off using a Gmail address to be honest as it can be used with any device at any time with the utmost of ease.

Edit. Jack spoke sooner.

Mark, just to add. Set up a Gmail address and on your desktop open up Gmail and there in settings you can add your TT address to allow Gmail to fetch any emails still sent to that TT address. You can also have all other email addresses added to that Gmail account pushed to your iPhone without having to fetch them manually. On top of that you can set the 'reply' email address to the address the email was sent to and not the Gmail address.

Basically you can use Gmail as a very versatile engine room.

Now that sounds like a plan, many thanks for that info
