Default Clean XP install on my laptop.....help

I would like to do a fresh install of Windows XP on my laptop...it's an old NC6000 HP bought from the Rig on here a few years ago.

It's clogged up and someone opened a scam e-mail (an American Airlines ticket scam) which installed all sorts of crud including a redirector for google LOL

I've had a look on the net but they assume I have the original XP disk but I don't..

Any pointers

Cheers

Shaun

If you cant get hold of a legal XP install disc, then try the usual defrag, followed by malwarebytes in safemode, then ccleaner (registry cleaner). Delete any unwanted files to increase space.

Of course you could get hold of XP by other means if u wanted to and just boot from that after burning the image to a CD *cough

I've done the usual safemode Malwarebytes / nod antivirus / CC cleaner / webroot / superantispyware etc.....sort of thing but it's just so clogged up with junk over the last 3 year.

I bought it with a legal copy of XP IIRC....I'll see if The Rig can help

Cheers

Thanks...... I've bookmarked the above sites. Much appreciated.

I'll still persue the option of a clean install given all the stuff that's on it

Cheers

You can install Win 7 from a USB drive. Just copy the files from the CD on another machine.

You need to prep the USB drive with diskpart, so you can boot from it, before you do that Jack.
