I've just been upgraded to a FTTC connection and the speed is pretty mean! ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Upon testing the connection methods it appears that my wi-fi is pretty lame.
LAN connection gives me full speed of 40Mb.
Wi-Fi connection gives me about half bandwidth, but varies (from 10Mb to 30Mb) on speedtests.
The wi-fi router supplied is a WNR1000 N150. All my wi-fi dongles are for g, so I assumed that this router would still be fine to provide maximum 54Mb throughput.
I've moved the router upstairs to the main bedroom, so not far from the office and main PC. Still crap speeds.
Now... I could wire a CAT5 cable to the office, but I really don't want to do that unless I have to.
I'm not really that bothered about the other wi-fi connections in the house not being full speed (consoles, HTPC, mobiles etc), so I have looked into these mains power network systems.
Are these any good and do they give at least enough sustained speed to provide me with 40Mb? You can get two for about £30 off eBay.
I don't stream anything round the house.
The other option is to buy another wireless router, and if so are there any that will certainly give me the full throughput of a g signal round a 3 bedroom house?

It's the fact your using a wireless g on your devices get a wireless n card and all will be resolved.
So it's not the router , it's the G connection. Even though G is 54mb you'll never receive that
