Hi guys, wanted to know if anyone has done a jail break on the new iphone 4s, reason being that i'm about to get a 4s and want it unlocking so that i can use a local sim in india and in the uk as the phone will be on vodafone croatia, but i'm told they wont unlock it.

No there isn't one yet (not far away though), your provider should unlock for you for free or for a small fee.

A jailbreak won't unlock it neither , you'll need a unlock solution to go along with a JB

Ant is correct there isn't, yet, a JB / Unlock for the 4S. However, this seems to indicate one is close to being released, though I'd not be shocked if they wait for iOS 5.1 to ship before releasing in case Apple patches whatever exploits are being used.

That is of course just a JB and not an unlock, so it's not much use to you anyway.

Thanks for the replies, so there is no way to unlock it as yet other than going via the network provider, which is a bit of a pain, does the unlocking software come out after a period of time like the old days or is it not possible for this to be done anymore with these new generation of phones.

I work for o2 and I know networks wont unlock the handsets at all not at the moment.

I do know the DEV team have done it on the 4s but working out a few bugs for the A5 chip and hopefully will be out in the next week and i cant wait
