Question stupid slow interweb

anyone else got virgin and at around 6pm and onwards the internet goes vvvv slow.

i am on there 20meg service, but after this time it just dies off.

results from speedtest are all under 1meg download speed.

it is only the last couple of weeks it has been like this.

anyone else getting the same?

Report it as a fault, i would guess it it just peak time traffic shaping though.

have tried to reset the modem, but made no difference.

on the phone to VM at the mo, but its gonna be a 10 min+ wait for a answer

wired. normally im on just under 20meg. at a guess i would say it is due to the amount of other users in the web slowing things down.

that shouldnt matter it's never affected me, you done any heaving streaming or downloading? you maybe throttled?

nothing any different use than normal, but been vvv slow like this in the evenings now for at a guess around 1-2 weeks

Mine`s usually pretty consistent at around 2.5 - 3.5 meg all day. As said above, sometimes it slows down but I just reset the modem.

How much are you downloading? Anything of 2gb I think you'll get throttled

update.....

been on with the virgin tec over the phone tonight, and it turnes out that the rooter is fubared, and thats what is causing the internet probs.

they are going to send me out a new modem/rooter in one thing to replace it.

think it could be, he said i be getting it earlyer than what i was ment to me, and the name superhub rings a bell.

is it any good?

Thats why I asked, they seemed to have gained a reputation.

Its one reason why I didn't want to upgarde; my old Ambit 256 modem works fine and I'd rather use my own WiFi router to sort the rest out.

ill still keep the modem i have here if i have any problems with the superhub. but even when my internet was working will, i struggles to get wifi upstairs in the bedrooms etc
