When I look in the device manager on my laptop I see this in the network adapters menu: Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter.
Is this any good? The reason I ask is that I've just got BT Infinity up and running and when It's wired to the router (the home hub it came with) it runs at about 75mbps, but when it's wireless the speed drops to around 26mbps. The BT engineer hinted that the wireless card may be outdated.
My laptop is around 5 years old, so would it be worth upgrading any of the components in it - if it's possible to run faster wirelessly, or should I just get a new one?
In fairness to my trusty laptop.... My phone runs at 26mbps too and thats about 4 months old.
Any suggestions would be welcomed....

You will always be limited by wireless. If you want the full speed you would have to go wired.
26 isn't that slow. If you really need to max out the speed then just plug it in. For most tasks 26 would be quick enough.

That is plenty fast enough. I wasn't sure if the capability of my laptop was holding back the service I'm paying for. For the other stuff thats wired to the router though it's even better!!! Much improved compared to the 2mbps I've had for the last few years. ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
