Default Sky TV out of contract

My Sky is now out of contract, so today I rang up to see if they could do me a deal on another 12 month contract. Currently pay about £38 a month and they offered me £2.50 discount a month.. thought that was carp so told them to cancel.

My question is - will they make me another offer before the 31 days notice is up or will it just stop working in 31 days?

The person I spoke to did say I could re-connect at any time in the next 12 months with the discount - but I really think its too expensive for what I watch so unless they make another offer I will just look at other options.

Thoughts?

They used to do anything to get you to stay with them but now I think they just call your bluff and wait till you come back to them. It is very expensive I pay about £60 per month.

The card will still work giving you freesat, at least that's what happened last time I cancelled. I've looked at Virgin and BT and Sky are still the cheapest

Virginmedia usually call you again a few days before the contract ends - suppose it depends who 'blinks' first !!

Ive been with Sky for years, i usually phone up every 6 months to cancel movies and end up getting them free for another 6 months. I do have everything HD sports, multi room etc but Sky also know that i cant get Virgin at our address so maybe there are deals to be made.

There is no cable on our estate as its new build (ish).
I have no intention of ringing them back up - so unless they come back with a better offer its going off next month. Just wondering if they would perhaps offer me a better deal before it does go off - but lets see!! I will update this thread if they do.

really depends who you get on the other end of the line. I sometimes made 2 or 3 calls over 3 days and finally managed to get a discount. I started a thread somewhere which would be a good read for you. But you should bear in mind you only pay £38 p/m which is why they can only offer you so much off. Is say you had other products such as BB, telephone, calls, sports and movies they may have been in a better position to offer a better discount.

Let me see if I can find my post - very useful experiences.

Update as promised. Had a few letters / offers - ignored them as none of them really offered any major discount.

They rang me tonight and offered me £23/mth for the same package that I have now.

Sounds fair enough to me - so went for that.
