Default Re-installing Windows 7 on a win7 machine

Selling my laptop, but want to do a fresh install. Is it possible to do a fresh install without the backup disc as these are taking ages to make, via formatting a usb stick etc.

I've got the Windows code, so thought it would be quite quick and easy but it doesn't seem to be and the person is coming shortly to get it

Without sounding sarcastic and pointing out the obvious about planning etc...
Microsoft do have a USB install tool:

Something else to consider here. If the HDD has/had sensisitive info on such as accounts from your bank, CV etc.. A standard format and re-install of Windows will not make sure that data has been erased properly. Ideally you should do a proper encrypted destructive reformat, but these will normally take hours to perform and use something on the lines of a US type department encryption algorythmn.

You need a 4GB+ USB stick.

Follow the steps in this video exactly.
