You might like to take a look at this site:

I had all sorts of problems with my Via chipset and the USB drivers. They seem to be a bit worse that most (just look at the forums to find out how much!)
As said previously - if it ain't broke, don't (try) to fix it!

Doc, I've a PIII Asus board and have always installed the 4-in-1 drivers.
With XP Pro, my video card won't work in anything other than bog-standard VGA mode if they're not installed![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
