Hey Guys,
Since my Big End No3 has gone, my warranty is gonna fix it, but soon as it need to goto a specialist dealers.... i.e. Warrender (RC Developments) they are fully booked up till 7th October.
Understandably, I want my car back as soon as I can, so I jsut want it fixed, can anybody recommend any specialists that can do a FULL engine rebuild on an STi 5 (and possibly rebuidl to STi 4 spec) ??
Regards

just make sure that if you have an sti they rebuild it with light weight pistons and not standard uk pistons, otherwise when you hit 8k rpm, the rod wont be happy.
other people are roger clarke motorsport, bill gwynne motorsport, jondel etc etc.

Townend Garage, Warton, Lancs. Rally experts. 01524 733837.
They really know what they are doing - they build rally engines and transmissions - and occasionally road car stuff.

Cheers all,
I opted for Graham Goode, basically cos they were the only ones i'd heard of !!
There rebuilding it to STi 4 spec (strongest STi) as oppose to STi 5 spec (Weaklest STi) with uprated everything ancillary wise

If you want it stronger why go for STI 4 spec - it's not like the pistons and rods are that much (if at all) better. In fact, most of the components aren't any stronger all round so if you want a stronger engine seems a slightly strange thing to do?
Surely you'd be better off with other pistons and rods, ie, Cosworth, JE, arrow etc etc......
And no matter what you do, it'll only ever be as safe as the ECU map....

What is the way to do it ? without going silly with loads of cash !
I've been thinking of going for an sti but the stories of bigends going is kind of off putting. If I was to look for one that had been rebuilt then what should I look out for ?
Is the sti4 really the strongest of them all, why is that so ? where are the weaknesses on the different models ? which ones slap etc ?
cheers
