Never really thought about it before (1st service for my scoob) but when I tell everyone a 30K service is £450 they are like 'ouch, but I bet it gets valeted inside and out'. But no it doesn't! Is that just my dealer are all Subaru dealers like this?

My Mazda dealer washes and dries the paintwork, cleans the alloys, cleans the interior glass and hovers at every service.

In fact, car was in for a pair of new rear pads (not during service) and it was done then as well.

Mazda dealer is an independent and they survive off repeat business hence keep us happy. Missus and I are so happy, her next car will also be a Mazda.

£450 for a service ? I would want a gold plated oil filter for that.

Cheers

Ian

Took my car into Prosport in Stockport (aka Subaru Manchester) for a 4 wheel alignment, even just for this they cleaned the car inside and out. Great service, the main dealers should take note!

I'd be pissed off if i'd just spent £450 and they didn't even clean it!!!

I know what you mean but I'd rather have a decent mechanic work on my car if its either or.

My Audi dealer wanted to wash it everytime I drove past the showroom (£85 an hour)

Unhappy

most of the time they wont bother washing it,, or they get the work experience guy to do it...who drags the hose over the bonnet..but in my case...they did wash my car...after id spend approx 4 hours cleaning it...so what was once a gleaming dent free sex on wheels machine turned into a water spotted mess...mmmm maybe im just getting old, but i do find myself having less and less time for stupidity....pot calling the kettle black i bet...

My local Subaru Dealer "Oaken Garage", always wash the motors, even if for service or mot/pads, even gets hoovered out everytime.Plus Tv and tea/coffee provided if you want to wait for your treasured car to be fixed. So , No, not every dealer "the same".

Interesting topic.

The wash is not free. You pay for it. Now if your bill was £475 and was fully itemised with "wash/vac car - £25" on it, would you still want it washed?

I am genuinely interested in peoples' feelings on this.

It is an interesting topic..

The way I see it - there are 2 ways to look at it:
Firstly - To have it included in the service then it would take extra time (and costs the garage) so that would mean that the quality of the service would suffer due to having to 'make time' for the valet and still keeping the work profitable.

If you are willing to pay for the valet then as far as I am aware a full valet - including engine etc.. to make your pride and joy look like new would cost approx £75.... that is a lot of money for a garage to do as a perk!

Depends where your priorities lie really!

Anyway, this is only my point of view.... you are welcome to disagree!

Always ask them not to wash the car as sadly I don't trust anyone else to do it. Doesn't seem to save on the bill though.

My dealer washes mine and like a previous reply they seem to leave it dirtier than it goes in on most occasions I don't mind if it NEEDS a wash but if it has obviously been washed and polished recently I would rather they left it smear free instead of free smears!
