I've just bought a 00MY turbo last week (fantastic)
unfortunately I only got one key & remote with it,
as it is an ex company car I couldn't get the former
keeper's name or number to ask him if he still had
the other key & remote, £185 from subaru to replace this,
All I wanted ADAMS SUBARU in AYLESBURY to do was to pass on
my number to him/her as a favour to a new subaru owner/customer,
the reply I got was that; if I had purchased the car from
them they would of made sure there was 2 keys with it, and its not
something they would do. It would of been a gesture of good will
from the woman receptionist and nothing else.
She gladly informed
me that she could replace these items,(at a very high cost)So I
gladly informed her I would take my 6 monthly/7500 mile custom
elsewhere.
Any advice would be gratefully received from a newboy on the
subaru scene. PS sorry for boring you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought my car from adams 2+ years ago and have found them v. helpful but v. pricey for service in comparison to other dealers.
Talk to the service manager - he has been helpful to me in the past.

Doubtless they hold the guys details on computer, thus it would be against the data protection act to pass the info on without the guys written consent.
Also if it's an ex company car it's likely that it's been through an auction. Of the cars we get here 75% of auction ones come with just one set of keys.

sharky, Its not against the data protection act for the
dealer to pass on my number and ask if he would assist,
the dealers always have the customers number on their
records, all I thought was that for the sake off nearly
£200 it wouldn't hurt to ask!!!!!!!!!!!

If the key and remote are reprogramed, the 'lost' remote will not operate the alarm, and the key will not start the car. I will physicaly turn the door lock and ignition lock.
