Default Number plates - where to buy?

I've just bought a JDM 1994 Classic WRX Wagon. The dealer has fitted square number plates - front and rear. Not really my taste so I want to change them. Hence posting this query.

Front - I want a small plate - for show use

Rear - I want a 'normal' rectangle (?) plate. BUT being a JDM car it has the metal frame on which the square plate is mounted. Looking at it if I mount a standard UK sized plate I'm going to have the 2 metal bars on show below the plate I don't want to start cutting the frame about - so I thought I could buy an oversize plate for the rear. Think these are often put on the rear of blob eye Scoobs? Would this work?

Had a look to see where I can get the plates.

http://www.fancyplates.com - they only appear to supply std sized plates.

Found this one http://www.aplates.com. They seem to do various sizes of plates. Thought - Front 12" x 3" and Rear 20.5" x 6.5". Sound Ok?

Any other suggestions / suppliers?

Try Tennants in Nottingham. They make any size you want.

If you use the fancyplates constructor, when you go to the next stage you can specify plate size

Just placed an order with fancyplates.

Front - gone for 330mm x 76mm (13" x 3" in old money). Bit smaller than their 3/4 std plate.

Rear - gone for 520mm x 152mm (20.5"" x 6") being their large rear plate. Filled out the area with a discreet a border and a nice Subaru logo at the bottom.

Hopefully they will arrive in time for fitting at the weekend.

would be interested to see the 3/4 plate fitted, becuase I want to reduce my front on eif at all possible.

I too will probably go for the larger rear. You could always argue with the fuzz that the larger rear makes up for the smaller front

Hi Scott T - Will try and get a few pics uploaded shortly.

I have to say I was very impressed with the service rec'd from fancyplates. Ordered Thursday lunch time and the plates arrived Saturday morning Quality of the plates are very good. The sizes have worked well. Nice big plate on the rear which fills the gap as I wanted. Small front plate sets off the front well. Front reminds me of a WRC from the era when Colin McRae DID win a world championship!!
