60k service on my old UK turbo at a local Subaru (South Wales) dealer cost just over 1k!! Boy, was I glad I was sitting down when they handed me the bill! I've just taken my MY99 STI to a non scooby dealer for a 30K service with Cam-belt using all genuine Subaru parts too, and that was just over £500. Much easier on the pocket... (and blood pressure) with no apparent drop in workmanship either.

TSL charged me just over £500 for mine although they are a little dear on the oil filter £13.45 + vat just bought one from a main dealer exactly the same part number for £4.40 inc vat work that one out. But other than that it was a top job.

I sourced the parts/fluids myself and paid a mate (mechanic who owns an Impreza) to do the work - £180 all in, but that didn't include a cambelt change. I'm more than happy with the workmanship, more so than if I had left the car with Subaru.

I was wondering about the importance of dealer stamp, etc, but the prices I was quoted were just silly money.

I was quoted about £700 for a 60 k plus cambelt on a classic from main dealer Quenby's in Herts. Got a cheaper quote from an independent Rodger Clarke in Leics but they ended up finding a few other things wrong and it cost about the same. Drives much better than when I've had main dealer servicing though. There is a guy Len at Subaru4you, another independent and I think he quoted £500 ish but it was hard for me to get down there for the day.

£360.00 plus VAT all in [ including cam belt ] at APi. Only extras will be worn out pads and so-on otherwise ALL service cost is covered.

Waits for [ hopefully ] the rush.

There was a place in Yorkshire who would do the lot for £300 including labour but i can't find the advert at the moment.

It was possibly http://www.hdcsubaru.com/

This guy is brilliant and very well priced too.

Thanks for the replies.

I've had the work done now, ended up going to new dealer Fox's as my old dealer Spring Park has closed down and there are no independants within a suitable distance.

Service and cambelt all in cost £888

Breakdown as follows:
Labour £400
Parts £300 (included a tensioner at £100 that was not budgeted for)
Fluids £50
All plus the dreaded VAT.

I must say that I was'nt expecting It to be that high but I'm quite happy with it now and the car drives superb.

Cheers

G.
