Zen Performance - engine build
Paul built a 2.5 engine forged pistons, steel rods etc for us. He contacted us to say the engine was ready, we sent car down, he installed engine, ran it in a little, checked the map, we picked it up.
Car starts and runs, install is very neat.
We commissioned him to do the job, he did it, we paid him, no problems whatsoever, alls good. Communication was excellent, jobs finished on time, Paul was very helpful and spent time chatting and discussing my needs. Great

Well, that was short and sweet.
On my way to getting the alignment set this morning and someone pulled straight out in front of me. I tried to swerve round them but he just kept on coming so I ended up ploughing into his front drivers wing. No way I could avoid him.
Both cars are totalled. The Impreza shells bent, passenger door doesnt fit and the roofs bent to hell.
One dead Scooby
If the engines ok then it will be up for sale once we finalise the details with the insurance company.

At this point in time we are planning on selling everything. I dont have any ball park figures for any parts at the moment, Ill not spend time on it until I know for sure we can keep the salvage. I also need to make sure the lumps in one piece but we cant start removing it until the assesors been, inspected the car and we can start stripping away the damage.

Guys, please stop phoning and pming me about the salvage and parts. The cars still sat outside, in one piece. It will remain as such until an agreed value has been made with the insurance company.
Theres absolutely no point people chasing me for parts off the car until the deals finalised with the insurance company. I dont even know if Ill be retaining the salvage. As such Ive not even thought about the prices for the parts.
Even when I start breaking it dont think that Ill be bending over on prices for the parts, youre not going to get the bargain of the century on the engine or any other bits. The total bill for the engine (counting Zens bill pluys the cost fo the parts that we added) was in excess of £5k and none of the parts have done any real work so nothing is going to be sold off at a song. A bent shell means little to me, we used to repair our Skylines bodywork after every single event it did, Im not in the state of mind of just ditching the parts at silly money because the shells bent.
The engine has done nothing, very few miles (i.e. less than 300), the turbos done no work (less than 1000 miles) etc.
Serious interested parties need only continue to watch for progress as Ive absolutely no qualms in just reinvesting the insurance money into a late Impreza and bolting all the relevent bits onto that. Engine, turbo, brakes, suspension, harnesses, wheels etc etc can all swap over to a late GDB. If I dont get sensible return on the parts then Im not interested in selling.
And thats IF we get to the stage of retaining salvage in the first instance
Im not being funny, just putting things straight. Anyone who thinks theyre going to walk off with my engine for peanuts are dreaming so nothing to see here, please move on

No problem although Id expect the n/s rod to be just a little banana shaped. Dont get me wrong about the prices, Im not out to fleece anyone but on the other hand Im not going to be giving the stuff away. A fair price is what Ill be after, nothing more.
Hopefully the rack itself will be perfectly ok though
The car itself came into the country with around 18,000km. Its done 32,000 in total so 18,000km plus 14,000 miles. I.e. just 25,250 miles, nothing much.

Okadokay, agreed a value with the insurers and we are keeping the salvage. We still arent allowed to touch the car, not until we have the written agreement through.
Shouldnt be long. Once we have the paperwork then we will quickly dismantle the car as I dont want it in the way any more. Ill post up with more info once we have it.
Some of the uprated parts include:
2x sets 17x8 Rota Force wheels in gunmetal
Zen Performance 2.5 tall engine - full spec to follow but £5k+ build with the parts we supplied.
Roger Clark Motorsport/Zen Performance breather system with catch tank and braided hoses
BC Racing 6/5kg.mm RM Series inverted coilovers 3k miles
KSport 330mm 6 pot front brake kit with new Performance Friction 01 front pads
As new Performance Friction rear pads
Hardrace front lower bushes
Hardrace steering rack mounts
Hardrace uprated engine and g/box mounts
Hardrace rose joint rear alignment arm set
2x KSport 6 point harness
Knocklink knock sensor kit
Ecutek ecu
Apex full turbo back exhaust system - 2k miles
ACT lightweight flywheel -1k miles
ACT heavy duty organic clutch kit - 1k miles
Cusco 6 point Safety 21 miss dash roll cage (2 door version, dont ask!). Fitted for less than 300 miles.
VF34 ball bearing turbo - 1k miles
If anyone wants any specific components then just post up and Ill get a price as soon as the agreement is finalised with the supplier However nothing will be held under any first dibs system, strictly first come first served when it comes to money as Ive been burnt way too many times in the past to be the nice guy again!
