Question

Seeing as my car is in trader 4 sale, Ive been contacted by cardata saying that for £99 they will sell my car for me & when its sold will give me £80 back.
Sounds good, but is it a load of ballcocks??
Has anyone actually used them??
Im always a bit scepticle about htese sorts of things.

Rog.

They are useless, they make more calls to people selling cars than get calls from propective buyers, in truth they wouldn't sell your car and so you would be £99 quid down!

Actually Cardata sold our last car for us. I think the deal is if they sell your car and the buyers use their finance you get the money back. They are said to advertise your car until sold. I found the autotrader useless but different people will have different experiences

Don't use those lying w##kers - and I'm talking first hand experience.

Back then it was 'only' £60 and the oik on the phone told me he had people waiting for Ducati 888's.

I asked him several direct questions about the number of people, locations etc before parting with my money. Not one enquiry

Take a look on the web site - the refernce numbers will give you an idea how long the vehicles have been up for sale. If you don't contact them after a month, your advert dissappears too making their website listing look like they do actually sell something.

DON'T USE THEM

Mark

bunch of crimianls if you ask me.

I had just moved and had two cars so was eager to sell one as quickly as possible. A 95 MR2. wanted 8k for it (2 years ago). They said they had people in my area on their lists that wanted a similar car.

After about 2 weeks I called for a 'status check'

Turns out they had given my details to 16 prospective buyers.

It works by a buyer phoning up and saying I want a 95 MR2 for about 8k in this area - and they pass on my details.

So 16 people wanted MR2's in my area, not a single phone call. I find it hard to beleive that you's contact cardata give them the details of the car price and area then not follow it up.

They were also on watchdog for being so crap.

I used them trying to sell my pug 106GTi 18month ago.

Unfortunately this bulletin board blanks out swear words and so my thread would just look like a pebble dashing if I put down what I thought of them!!!

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T GIVE THEM ANY MONEY.

I tried selling a Jag Sovereign via CarData and only received one call (which I suspect was Cardata themselves pretending their service was useful)

Same with me when selling a Renault Laguna in 98. Handed over my money and never heard a thing, chased 2 weeks later and my details had been passed to "loads" of purchasers.

How many of you have registered with them saying you were looking for a particulat car??

I sold a 200SX through them two years ago. Didn't get the money back offer though, just opted for £40 until it was sold. Yes you do have to contact them once a month to keep it registered but what's the problem? You know this - it's only a phone call.

Wink

Notice how nobody has actually BOUGHT a car using Car-Data. Funny that.

Instead of doing the '£40 until sold' (which gives them no incentive to do so) try telling them you'll pay them the 40 quid after they sell it.
