Imports and Plates
#1
Has anyone imported using their own plates. Namely, getting the paperwork sent to you at home by the dealer. Registering the car at your local office. Getting proper plates and going over to the continent armed with only a screwdriver?
In other words, saving the cost of transit plates! This is what my Belgian Dealer has suggested.
Cheers.

Thats what i did when i picked up my car.
The dealer posted me the documents via courier & i went to DVLA the same day. However, not all DVLA's accept over the counter registrations!!! I would phone up first to find out otherwise they will want all the documets for 2 weeks.
As to them checking your car, make sure you go when its really busy & say that the car is parked at home in the garage as it is not registered, thus no road tax!!!
