I've only reset MY01 using Delta Dash. I had heard, but cannot confirm as I didn't try, that the underdash reset trick no longer works? Are the connectors still there even?

Firstly my ECU is not under warranty, due to aftermarket work.

Can anyone make a suggestion on where I could get an internal ECU wire resoldered? I have a PPP piggyback board and the power wire has come off. It is a really tight space and difficult to get to.
See pic the picture below.

Secondly can anyone shed any light on if you can reset the MY01 Check Engine Light without a trip to Subaru.

Thanks Nathan..

can't help on the first point, as crap at soldering and at the other end of the country.

CEL can be reset with select monitor (dealer!) or with various engine management software systems.
we use OBD-2.
have a look in the yellow pages to see if there are any garages offering ECU services in your area- you chould be able to find one. they would usually charge approx £30 to 40 to reset a CEL.

hope this helps-

Thanks for the replies so far.

John

I have found two green connectors under the dashboard on the drivers side. One has a red and black wire the other green and white. No sign of 2 black connectors though.

The ECU is now completely out of the car. Will a lack of power for long enough do the trick?

Cheers

Nathan..

One ECU I had disconnected reset in 10 mins. Long story how I know. But very possible. I would be interested to know if the underdash green/black plug thing does work.

John

I'll try connecting the two green conectors and see what happens.

Just need to find someone who can solder accurately.

Cheers for that Steve. I've had another look and will try the two green plugs as per the instructions.

I don't know if I am mad or just plain stupid but I feel confident and may have a go at soldering it myself tomorrow.

Well had a bash at it a few minutes ago and soldered it back together myself Put the ECU back in the car and it fired up first time.

Tried the two green wires under the dash as per the MRT instructions and the ECU CEL has gone out.

The only problem is the car feels nowhere near as fast as it did before it cut out on me and had to be limped home at under 30 mph. Will the ECU realise that everything is fixed or is it safe mode

Is there anything else I need to do

Cheers

Assuming everything is OK (well done BTW) then give the ECU a bit of time. These I-club guys reset their ECUs all the time trying to figure out why and when it retards, and they all say it runs like a dog to start with. Just drive it for a while and see.

Cheers John I'll see how it goes for a few days. A nice spirited drive and a new tank of Optimax and hopefully she'll be okay.

I knew things were going too well for an MY01
