I noticed tonight a ratteling coming I think from the exhuast system. It happens when the car is slowing down or being revved.
I can't see anything obvious but then I was lying on the floor and using a torch.
The exhaust is an HKS Hiper fitted to an MY01.
Anyone any ideas? I am quite concerned.
Cheers,
Mark

Mark check the manifold heat shields, they crack and rattle and so does the heat shield on the up pipe to the turbo.Scoobysport put a washer on my heat shield bolt, and it seems to have cured the rattle.

Right so it is sounding more like heat sheild as the rattle was going from the underside of the car I think I may have found the culprit!
Thanks for all the constructive help, if this fixes the problem I will let you know.

Well the problem was found, eventually.
I took the car to a dealers for them to look at it, after ten minutes of looking. I was told "It is coming from the back box".
Useful, I already said it sounded like a noise coming from the back box.
A phone call and a Saturday booked later I went up to TSL (brake pads needed anyway).
Off comes the back box, it gets shaked and no noise. As it is laying on the floor Becks notices the hanger is at a strange angle. The weld has given and the hanger is connected by a small amount.
At this point I was windering what to do next. Among the helpfl suggestions about sticky tape and cheing gum, a phone call was made.
Glenn comes in on his day off and I end get a back box back with a newly welded hanger on my back box.
The rattle came from the hander hitting the side of the back box!
So a huge thanks to TSL (Becks and Glenn) for their observation, commitment and willingness to come in on a day off.
A huge hiss to the Subaru mechnic that found I had a rattle coming from the back box, although apparently my heat shields are really in good nick!
