For those interested, I have pics of the legacy pistons and heads, compared to the wrx/impreza variety. Although I did put impreza heads on my legacy, and it ran fine with std boost, but it would det. at just under 1 bar. The talk was that if you put impreza heads onto a legacy motor you had to change the pistons too. The legacy pistons do seem to have a smaller dish than the impreza, and likewise the legacy heads do appear to have a slightly larger combustion chamber. I have not measured either, but if you put impreza heads, with legacy pistons, it will raise the CR, I cannot say by how much though.
Legacy short motor.
