For those interested, I have pics of the legacy pistons and heads, compared to the wrx/impreza variety. Although I did put impreza heads on my legacy, and it ran fine with std boost, but it would det. at just under 1 bar. The talk was that if you put impreza heads onto a legacy motor you had to change the pistons too. The legacy pistons do seem to have a smaller dish than the impreza, and likewise the legacy heads do appear to have a slightly larger combustion chamber. I have not measured either, but if you put impreza heads, with legacy pistons, it will raise the CR, I cannot say by how much though.

Legacy short motor.

WRX pistons

WRX head, it is difficult to see really any size difference, more so from the photo

Which year WRX head do you choose?

Large bucket, solid lifters?

Sorry I could see you're pictures.
