STI 9 TOP SPEED @ 10,000 RPM
Has anyone Built a High Power ,High RPM STI 9 with over 700 WHP and tested its Real World Top Speed at a Top speed event like VMAX etc ?
I have seen a 2007 STI do 191MPH on GPS at around 7K RPM ( I believe it has the same gear ratios as the 06 STI on 4th ,5th ,6th Gears)
see this video
I have seen a Top speed of 204.8 MPH on a DYNO on a 06 STI at the standard rev limit
The Gear Ratios on a 2006 STI 9 are as follows
1st = 3.636:1
2nd = 2.235
3rd = 1.521
4th = 1.137
5th =0.891
6th = 0.707
Final Drive Ratio 3.900
Tyre size 245/50/17
Drag Co-Efficent 0.37
Car Weight 1495 KG
I checked the theoretical top speed on this website
http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/tyres.html
it calculated the car is Geared to 273 MPH
I do not believe that is correct but would like to know what TOP SPEED people have had from an 06 STI

not really sure a 6krpm boost threshold is worth a toss though better to have a car that comes on boost at 2krpm and revs to 8500 rpm same power range without the problem of falling off the power curve,the only reason the box has survived is that the torque is **** low on a destroked lump -this was discussed heavily on 22b years ago -they said that going to 35r-40r turbos was the only way to get full power past 8krpm-the cost and unreliabillity past 9k just was,nt worth it....

Was you on your rev limiter or just run out of road at that point and can you disclose your power and weight ??
Im taking my Impreza later this year, its one event im looking forward to.

Yes that was me
i had had a cam sensor issue on the day so could not run hard in 1, 2, 3, or 4 gears
I ran out of road the car was still pulling I think 200 was posable.
the Rev limit is 8500 but power starts to drop off above 7800
power wise i am I am maxing out my billet GT35 it makes 700bhp & 610 ftlb with 20% meth weight is around 1100kg
i did enjoy it at VMax I won't go again in my classic, I am very tempted to swap the running gear over to my SVX shell if I go again, as that would be very interesting as the drag coff and frontal area are much better for top speed stuff

They're very good numbers from a gt35 without the use of race fuel, you mention you a have a svx shell, is it a 6 cylinder you have ?

It seems you should of passed the 200 mark then without the issues you had. IIRC the later hawkeye 6 speeds are geared to 212mph at 7.5k revs.

4th: 1.137 (1.346 US 2006 STI)
5th: 0.971

The useable powerband point you made makes sense aswell as does not having boost until 6.5 k
Was your car the at TEN OF THE BEST ?
BTW This is a Destroked EVO 4g63 engine it went from 2.0 to 1.8 has a over square Stroke to Bore Ratioso it can rev very high

I wonder if those ratios are right? As far as I can see, the US and JDM didn't get those ratios in an Impreza.

Thanks for your input the Data Sheet I PhotoGraphed was for the 2006 2.5 Litre Type UK WRX
Japan and the US got EJ20 Cars and not the EJ25 Cars
Seems SUBARU just Transplanted the same Gearbox and Engine thats fitted in the JDM Forester STI into the UK WRX ( with the addition of the DCCD)
the Domestic Cars are very Different in different regions it seems

TY856WPDAD as you say used from the end of 2006 til end of June 2007
As the change in the last 4 characters only relate to "detailed specification" could it be that the change relates to something like the removal of the oil pump, similar to that with the last of the 2007 Impreza 6MT boxes?
Ratios would remain the same and are listed as such for MY07/08/09.

Looking at the JDM, US and UK 6MT codes the change of the last character to a D at the beginning of 2007 on Impreza and Legacy boxes would appear to coincide with the oil pump removal.
UK STi TY856WG8KD
UK Legacy TY856WPDAD
US STI TY856WW8MD
US Legacy TY856WWDAD
JDM STI TY856WB8KD
Legacy TY856WBDAD and TY856WVDBD

and I Quote

I just checked the data Don Clark provided and indeed the WRX STI TYPE UK 2006/2007 does have the Same Ratios as the Legacy 2007 6 Speed so 2pot was correct
I posted the Brochure that came with my car to reaffirm the the ratios I originally Posted were correct and were indeed for the TYPE UK STI
see here https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...d99d3327e8.jpg
I did not fact check 2Pots Statement about the ratios being the same as the Forester STI( Don Please feel free to Confirm or Correct this as you seem to have access to more information than myself ,I have no ego and don't mind being corrected )
I am sorry if I have offended you and that you think "I am always off about the information I provide !"
I do not claim to be a SUBARU Guru hence why I am posting on this forum so people with more experience and knowledge and access to Subaru Databases and other insider information on the Subject of Gearboxes and Ratios can give their input
if put a statement out there I hope that people can either confirm its correct or correct me and say its wrong
Anyways thanks for your input
