Hmm! Sure I posted earlier... anyways

Is there a way to test for a faulty MAF unit? I think I may have shafted it when it was lying around in the garage. I cleaned it with the air compressor too - which probably didn't help - that's the last time I try any bright ideas. I think that may be why the car won't start.

Cheers

Dave

I think there are some readings you can take with a multimeter.
Can look them up when I get home if you like.

What year is the car? - might be different readings for the later models....

Thanks that'd be really cool - It's a phase 1 engine - all the MAF's I've seen look pretty much the connector wise.

If you could let me know that'd be cool.

YHM. Mail me back if you think of any other sensor diagnostics and I will see what I can do.

N.REV YHM - (Appologies for bad spelling etc.. Been drinking tonight)

It's not the MAF sensor, but the wiring, ECU bits etc. that goes with it. It seems that MAFs are consumable parts!!

Could still be useful to you - helps eliminate other problems.

Have to say, mine's not been a problem since I switched back to normal paper filters and dosed the MAF with a LOT of brake cleaner...

I can't seem to get hold of any MAFs in the whole of Europe. It seems thst some Belgium chap has corned the market and is stockpiling them. Then he's telling everyone that they need a new one

Wrexy, I don't know what you are talking about On the box it says something silly like Kostas or summat

Floyd, LOL :P Yup, I'm your local MAFia

In the mean time, I had about 10 people ask me for the MAF's at the lower price. But I don't want to bother my secret contact in Greece, so best bet is to go to your friendly dealer, and say "look, I KNOW you can sell me part number 22794AA010 METER CP-AIR FLOW, so stop ripping me off". It's a genuine part, it's got a part number, so I just can't believe they can continue to sell the whole assembly for almost 5 times the price.

Finaly! After talking to my local subaru dealer with no luck, I called the Importer and told him to stop ripping us customers of, and after a while he agreed to sell me just the Sensor

If the dealer's parts database is not up to date ask them to check it on line on IM's system. Went from never heard of to £61+VAT.

22794AA010PE is the number in the database...
the missing PE caused my dealer to have to search it.
