Do you need the Heatshield?

Had a new TSL downpipe fitted 3 weeks ago by my Dealer just before going off on holiday. I noticed that amongst all the old bits 'n pieces they gave me back was the original heatshield.
Do I actually need to re-fit this to the car or is it safe to run without it?

The answer is a BIG BIG YES it does need to be refitted ... without the heatshield you will toast that corner of the intercooler, they would have had to modify it to fit back (no big deal) but many do not bother.
My advice is ... get it modified and refitted asap.

Hi Phil,
Yes it's *THAT* one again. When they picked the car up I had wrapped the new DP/centre in some old duvet sheets so they would damage any of the seats/windows/doors.
So when they drop the car off, wouldn't you know they leave the sheets on the floor and wrap the old cr@p parts in a single plastic bag. Now I've huge scrapes all over the rear door cards![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
They've agreed to replace them, but I still need to do a 60-mile round trip just to get their screw-up repaired.
The sooner I can get clear of them the better.

Sorry Phil, went on a rant a bit and forgot to answer your 2nd question.
All the warranty work is now completed, inc. a shiny new O2 sensor. Finally after 3 months the idling issues are fixed.
I'd probably be more pi$$ed off with everything if it wasn't for the permanent smile that comes with fitting the new DP![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
So you going out on track next Saturday? You know you want too![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
