Anyone have any comments about these filters? any MAF probs? fitting tips?

Is the Unichip companion ecu mod, really neccessary (according to their website)?

standard p1, with milltek decat centre pipe and backbox exhaust, HKS ssqdv.

Thanx

Fitting fiddly but fine. Nothing to say long term yet (but Wrexy seems to have had no troubles)... other than an ickle problem on this thread . Unichip or another method of changing fuelling is pretty important. I have since been advised that the, ahem, 'slight leaness' in the lower rpm range shouldn't cause any problems, but it's still running rather lean at higher rpm, though maybe not 'dangerously' so.
Still, I'm a wuss so am having it remapped anyway

Forgot to say - performance is poo now at spool-up, but the shove above 3,500 is quite noticeable. Although as has been pointed out, a 3-4% drop in CO may account for a chunk of that, and that has to go
Will have more info on Thursday after mapping

Seems you therefore have to remap to get the benefits

I suffered no additional lag going from a top mount to an APS front mount on my sti5 - but then I had a mappable Link ecu

Be aware that the APS cold air induction is not recommended unless ecu parameters are adjusted, it will disturb the airflow thro the maf causing the car to run in the wrong map areas sending it lean at times. APS actually state something to this effect on their web site.

BTW I know of at least one car that suffered piston seizure due to using this induction with Jecs std ecu, there were other mitigating circumstances but the induction significantly contributed.

When used in conjunction with other upgrades then the induction works well.
