Question

as above, after fitting apexi stuff and hence disconnecting the factory boost solenoid, i have the 'engine check' light on permanent as a result of the disconnection.

any way of getting rid of the light?

cheers

Replacing it with a 10K resistor (only needs to be low power hence the high value) does the job on the MY99 Impreza. The voltmeter resistance of the solenoid was about 30 ohms, but a resistor that low would need to be chunky and gets hot. Note that the solenoid is usually high side drive and is activated by pulling low and has a constant 12V on the other line.

Yes any say 0.5 W resistor of about 10K value would do. Note I have only done this on my car and others have found it works on the MY01 - proceed at your own risk.

As way of a mild apology

The three way solenoids on early MYs are approx 50 Ohms. Although, I've not tried it myself I'd like to concur with John's *sensible* answer - in theory it should work the same.

Best of luck m8.

Silly question... Why not just plug it back in?? Seriously. Why do you have it unplugged from the ecu anyway?

hi steve mate.

reason its off is because the apexi avc-r uses its own boost solenoid.

Can you leave it connected electrically but remove the vac pipes, leaving the solenoid open to atmosphere?

That's what I did.

Cheers
