Good question as I'm planning on buying one of these from JW tomorrow

Where are you looking to get yours from?

AFAIK the stock sensor stays in place as the ECU reads from this, and the new sensor has to be mounted under the intercooler somewhere using an existing thread and a new longer bolt.
I've been told if you use the original sensor it can mess with the reading the ECU picks up causing the ECU to reacte to things that aint happening....

The above image is the Bosch Sensor only.
The Standard sensor fits further forward under the throttle linkage.

The above image is the rear of the engine, Near-side just infront of the Bellhousing.

I think he means 'On Top' as in 'As well as', rather than physically fitting 'On Top'.

EDITED cause I always get me Off-Side and Near-Side mixed up...Hey! just like my last MOT inspector then !!!

Do you have to use the supplied Knock Sensor or can you run with the Standard Subaru one in Place ?

Is there any difference between the one supplied and one fitted ?

Will MY depend on the Sensor supplied ?

Is there any calibration on the KnockLink or is it just a case of connect to Knock input on ECU and away you go ?

Correct - don't splice into the ECU's knock sensor, use a new one. Most places you buy knocklink from will supply new Bosch sensor too.

I think with mine, the OEM one is left in place connected and the new one is an additional mounted on top.

Question

Reading that though it appears the guy is using the Bosch sensor supplied with the kit ontop of the orignal sensor???

I think that there is a better way to mount the extra sensor using an existing thread on the block somewhere, this will give a more reliable reading...

Anyone know where the extra sensor should go??

Thumbs up

Cool, I think I know what you mean.

I've just ordered mine, whoever fits it first can help the other fit theirs

Can't be that difficult, I think a new longer bolt is all thats needed.

Cheers

Morning Bryan...

As mentioned Knock Link with Sensor is £81 in VAT. Stock is due in this week.

After my Detonation Run on the RR Saturday I thought I better get on if the ECU Code modifications are to continue.
