Ok folks,
Who can tell me exactly wot is required to fit a Euro version 5 engine in a Japanese WRX version 1? Is it just engine, ECU & loom or is there more to it ?
Also is it possible to fit V6 sti rods and pistons in a V1 WRX?

Essentially it should fit, the gearbox mates I think, but there are more bolts on the phase 2 engine, so you may just have a redundant one.
Loom is considerably different, as are some of the things on it, such as throttle position sensor, injectors etc.
I would think it's definitely possible, you may make life easier by fitting jst the short engine, so keep your current heads, manifold, loom bits etc. You would need a new cam belt, few gaskets etc, not sure about compression, but there are a couple of head gasket thickness' available that should take out most of the problems.
Somone on here has fitted a pair of phase 2 heads on a phase 2 engine, but he lengthened the old manifold to fit. i have a phase 2 manifold here, and am intending to get heads and so on to fit to my pre97 engine next year.
Anything's possible.
