Starting problem
#1
My Legacy Twin Turbo refused to start Wednesday morning. All the lights on the dash came on so not immobiliser. Then nothing, after many hours of trying I moved the car while shuffling in the seat and the the starter motor kicked in!! It then started and will do so when moved while turning the key. It will start as normal once the engine has warmed up. Is this a starter motor fault? The cars only 6 years old 62000, I thought these cars where bullet proof! any other ideas?

Hi Tim, that is odd indeed.
This may sound like a cure all/fob off, but take a look at the earthing kit (dunno if you've done it yet). Dead easy to DIY, and can really help with electrical gremlins.
Dunno if it will cure your problem, but not a bad place to start. Another possibility is the battery...is it getting old/past it?

AJ,
I tested the battery this morning all okay, earthing already done. Called the breakdown cover and its the starter motor - totally knackered. Anyway its gone in to the garage and I'm picking up a second hand Impreza one tomorrow. Have you heard of these going before on Legacy's ?

Damn - hard luck for you there Tim.
Sorry, I don't know the answer personally, but the layout is identical, so any WRX motor of that era "should" work. Just make sure everything lines up.
Best of luck getting all sorted.
