As above.. easy peasy
I know this should be in Suspension Forum but it was discussed in drivetrain a while back..
Basically, to remove/change the lower ball joints you must first chock the back wheels and make sure the handbrake is fully up. Jack up the correct front side of the car, support with an axel stand and remove the appropriate road wheel...
Remove the split pin from the castle nut under the wishbone and remove the castle nut (19mm) from the balljoint.
If you look at the base of the hub you will see that the balljoint is held in to it by a clamp with a bolt.
Remove this bolt (14mm), you will see the slot in the bottom of the hub, i used a flat-headed screwdriver and hammered it into the slot to open it slightly.
I then tapped the wishbone downwards which releases the balljoint from the hub.
I then hit the bottom of the balljoint upwards out of the wishbone, it didnt take much of a hit to release the balljoint from the wishbone.
Once the balljoint is out you will see that there is a sleeve still on the balljoint itself, i tapped this off with a bolster.
I tapped the balljoint back into the Hub and replaced/tightened the 14mm bolt before fitting it back into the wishbone..
Place the sleeve into the wishbone and angle the balljoint so that it slides in the sleeve/wishbone straight..
I then screwed the nut on to the balljoint, before i tightened up the nut on the balljoint i jacked up the wishbone to take some weight, this was to stop the chances of the thread turning whilst i tightened it up..
The new balljoint had a locknut rather than a Castle nut so a splitpin was not needed.
Once you are happy that the lower balljoint nut is tight and that the hub clamp bolt is tight remove the jack from the wishbone and replace the road wheel and tighten the nuts.
Jack the car up and remove axel stand, lower the car back onto the road wheel, remove jack and ensure the road wheel nuts are correctly tightened.

Hope this might be of help to someone, no more squeaky turning for me

Thanks

It still clonks occasionally, so I may do this when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Thanks for the offer

I'm not exactly local to you, as I live (mostly) on the Isle of Wight!
