Collapsing APS fmic pipework

Blipping the throttle to around 4k in neutral with the bonnet open you can clearly see the pipe (post ic above the turbo running to the throttle body) implodes...
I've seen silicon pipework collapse pre turbo due to fiter/inlet restrictions but never seen it post intercooler.. I thought the APS ic was fairly free flowing?
I've checked for restrictions/blockages but found nothing. Has anyone else experienced this with the APS?

I wouldn't worry, it's only ever going to be a problem at high vacuum. As soon as the post turbo pressure is around atmospheric, there won't be any collapsing.
Pipes collapsing before the turbo it's still a problem, as high boost will generally mean higher vacuum before the turbo than low boost.

Perhaps David but a fair few people have had good results using the APS FMIC though....
Just a thought![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What's people's opinions on heat soak when using metallic pipework?

(take with a pinch of salt with this, it might just not be that serious mode on)
Guys,
Dont see why you are upset about this excellent feature! The APS pipework has obviously been designed with a variable intake path geometry system such that the intake tract tubes offer variable internal diameters depending on the engines needs... on vaccum, they shrink to improve gas speeds through the lower bore of the tube, and on boost they billow out to improve flow capacity through them! How can you dislike suck a clever system?![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

matt,
sorry but that is the lamest argument I have heard in ages.
Just because people useit with success does not mean that the design might be flawed or capable of being improved upon.
Plus it is entirely subjective.
Before my car blew up it was running like a dog with a dodgy standard fuel pump not up to the job in hand. A nova boy would have gone for a ride and thought it was greased lightning, because his perception would be different.
Since most people only tend to fit one fmic in their tuning lives, few are going to know the difference between decent improvement and dramatic improvement.
Personally I think the aps pipework is a nice idea, it just doesnt suit my boost needs.

I was just pointing out that people have had successes with it, that's all. I said nothing about it being the best
, either in application or design ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Haven't there been people who have indeed gone from one FMIC to another (e.g. Pace to something else?![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
)

[devils advocate mode] Interesting that the new APS front mount for new age has I believe got steel pipework [/devils advocate mode]
Don't get me wrong, I'm an APS fan, I have an APS exhaust and love it. But if they didn't think there was a slight possible problem, why did their "continuing product development" change this?

i am old.
am almost 30 now.
Matt,
I know I have changed intercoolers that was why I said what I said
ps. **** off!![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I know you never said it was the best, but as I said, great results are subjective. You are just being defensive cos you fancy APS intercoolers and dont want to publicly admit your fetish for heat exchanger cores.
