Here is another stupid question, what is the max boost for a subaru to drive safe (a 218bhp, euro model ???), mine is curr running to 1.2 kg and when i'm working the engine in 5t the boost goes to 1.35, 1.4 for a short time between 2500 - 5000 rpm, then it settles back to 1.2 and driving flat out is the max 1.0 kg...

It's very relative...

Your peak is a bit high I'd say - especially if we're talking about an otherwise standard car.

A remap, a bigger fuel pump, maybe a larger turbo and ic will have great impact on how far you can go with it.

The key thing is to make sure it isn't detting, and that it's running the right AFR, then it's up to the turbo really...(naturally you will end up at a point where the engines internal can't cut it).

Take my car for instance - running 1.3 bar held (1,35 peak in 4th) with a larger turbo (TD 304) - this with an HKS fmic, a walbro pump and some other small tweaks.

On a remapped, otherwise stock car (with the tmic and td04-13l) I wouldn't personally run more than 1.3 bar-ish, with as little a peak as possible.

The most important aspect is whether you've remapped your ecu for the higher levels of boost or not.

/J

I replaced exhaust and i had 1.6 for 2 months. Maybe Digit power ECU give more fuel (for safety). Engine is still O.K.
But more pressure means more heat and it means more fuel for less power....... Try to measure temperatures in front and behind the intercooler in different boost.

Digit Power *ECU*?! Surely you mean FCD and bleed valve?

:-) You know..... Bleed valve. But I think (believe) there is more fuelling. (maybe fuel cut defender too). Do you think that only bleed valve cost the money the Digit power wants? Maybe yes :-(

YES!

I´ve recently remapped an Impreza which had previously (before his engine blew) "tuned" his car at that company (for LOTS of money). We only found an FCD in the std. ECU. They only put a TD-05 and the FCD and the car was running 1.4 to 1.5 bars of boost!

Mark.
