now then people, all who care and some who dont !! lololol
right me money has been spent, ive finally after bending everyones ears, and five weeks living on here went for the ggr sports cat downpipe, which ggr and AWChampions(scooby rally garage)assure me will fit WITHOUT heating or hammering, and a magnex str8 through centre section (no cat no resonator)- to replace my ppp decatted centre section. Cost me about £500, and about £90 to £150 to fit (the cost alone has made me religious).
So hoping if the parts get delivered mon to get fitted mon or tues, fingers crossed everything goes to plan, then no messing about at mot time.
When i talked to my garage they would not take off my decat centre and replace with a catted centre, they said if all went wrong or i got road checked they could be dragged into any chew, so this may cost me more but at least itll be road legal(AWChampions told me their rally cars now have to have specialist sports cats to enter their races !!)
So hopefully in a few days Fatty ill be able to post happy satisfied blown away with the results posts.....

it sounds like a lot of faffing around - just go completley catless and get a "friendly" MOT done...

oh and the garage saying they would get done is pure flim flam - MOT's and inspections etc means it's OK on the day of the test - 1 hour later your car could fail a test or MOT and there would be zero come back on the original MOT garage.

well thats what me garage have said, an im gonna trust em on it. thing is if theyre wrong then ive spent a bit more money on a slightly less efficient downpipe, if you are wrong scooby do then im in for a big big fine, im a pretty unlucky bloke, an if someone can **** on me from high it normally is bang on target, search the threads, you get ten people saying black an ten saying white, at the end of the day if fate does frown on ya and you end up facing a big fine for failing emissions on a spot test (the experts know the readings on the probes for no cat at all), then you cant quote scoobynet experts as a viable defence !
im happy to go that bit more on the expenses to give me peace of mind, if the downpipe is 2-3bhp less than a full decat ...well i can live with that cos itll still be around 10bhp more than i got now!
cheers paul

Well said mate - hope you come back with the same results after the MOT (Fully understand when it comse to the cost of a full dyno etc) - if it passes the MOT & you think it runs better is good enough for me.

Mind you I believe GGR has 4wd Rolling road - & if they really believe in their own product, ask nicely, then explain that you're publishinbg before & after results you'll more than likely get it for free - as it'll be the best advertising they'll ever get.

No harm in trying it on

FWIW, I believe the results with sports cat should be very close to those with a full de-cat. IIRC, Power Engineering claim their centre section cat will pass MOTs, and yet the power difference is apparently barely detectable on the rollers versus a de-cat pipe.

I have full APS system with sports cat downpipe, scoobysport up-pipe and ported headers, and an ecutek on my MY02, that gave 284bhp/272lbft on PE rollers.

I believe that Medway1 has the GGR sports cat downpipe. Last I knew, he had slightly lower boost than normal ecutek (due to OEM up-pipe) with over 260bhp, and had been told to expect similar results to me with the de-cat up-pipe and 1.18 bar peak boost. I haven't had an MOT yet, but apparently those three should pass OK. I also believe the MRT sports cat system is (at least in Australia) guaranteed by manufacturer to pass emmissions tests.

Don't know if that helps?

Good luck with the results - will be interested to hear.Have been thinking of the GGR sports cat downpipe for a while.Have a P1 and wonder if replacing the centre section will make any difference - think it only has a resonator on it - anyone able to help or shed any light? Also considering going for the GGR induction kit at same time.Again, any suggestions or comments gratefully received.

Cheers,

John.

Please keep us informed mate.

I'm sure they're quite a few of us silently watching this thread hoping for a high flow exhaust that gives both performance increases & passes emmisiomn without hassle.

Please don't disappear into the ether... post your results for us - best of luck.

Chris
