Exhaustive research ... phew

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Right, just sold my beloved SS (Hayward&Scott) BB. I have a 1 yr old daughter and for long hauls was finding the boom in the cabin too much especially when it's hot. Boot is soundproofed and I have some carpet underlay in there as well. I want a nice sound but less noise ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I have an MY00 classic shape wagon, with SS (Hayward&Scott) DP + BB + Dawes. I am for the moment putting the twin pea-shooter back on![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I been doing some research and looking for some opinions of those in the know. I want louder than standard but quieter than SS but still a small increase in performance![Cool](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
I don't want to splash out an another new BB so will be second hand.
Seems I can rule out.
SS (either H&S or Janspeed), Blitz, HKS, Magnex or TSL (Group N or Firestorm), Scoobymania or Scoobyworld's Afterburner are all going to be louder or a similar db level than my current SS BB.
I'm ruling out Scoobyworld's Mach II as it's expensive and I don't like the tail-pipe design. Would prefer Single pipe.
So that leads me to the PPP BB, the WR Sport BB, Scorpion BB and the quiet H&S BB (unlikely to get 2nd hand) as likely options.
Reading up suggests that the PPP BB and the WR Sport BB are different internally. This is because the PPP BB is used in conjunction with a decat centre.
The PPP BB will be quieter than the WR Sport fitted to my SS DP+OE Centre.
Seems that Scorpion manufacture the PPP BB ... is the scorpion BB then identical to the PPP BB but with a different tailpipe design?
What I am looking for is quiet on cruise, quiet on start up, slightly deeper burble and it can go crazy above 4K on WOT. Basically slightly more pronounced than the OE BB up until 4K or so then wahey .. away we go![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
One other alternative, keep the twin pea shooter on, get rid of the OE centre and have full decat. This obviously has repercussions come MOT time.
Which is more restrictive ..
SS DP + OE centre + PPP BB
SS DP + decat centre + OE BB
Lots of questions but can anybody offer me some help?

I was looking for a similar set up hecently. After selling mu Bliz NUR Spec. I believe the most restrictive part of the exhaust is the OE D/Pipe. So for real performance gains you heed to replace this with either a sports catted D/Pipe or straight through D/Pipe. I had two systems in mind: APS full system with sports cat, or the Graham Goode system with sports cat. Both are supposed to give real performance gains but not alot louder than OE system. In the end I ordered the Graham Goode System. It should be arriving today so I will post the results soon!

Having had just a PPP BB on a MY99 and now a WRSport BB on MY02 - both with no other mods - I would say the PPP BB was louder when you boot it compared to the WRSprt. But the WRSport gives a better burble (deeper) on idle.
I had both with no prob and my kids (2 and 6) grew up with them both - me an my boy thought the PPP one was best as it appeared louder !

For quiet, but still a nice sound, the Remus is good (and cheap! - around £160 new). Not as free flowing as the old Scoobysport & the like, but barely noticeable unless having a major hack.
For a good compromise, the TSL 'standard' (their old one, which I think they still make) is a very good compromise - slightly splattery sort of noise which is quite cool, but the least droney of all I've tried (which is quite a few!). I'd put that one at the top of your list, myself. Might even have one up for sale shortly, depending on how my latest project goes...

I've had the Remus twin 90mm tailpipe with decat centre and OE DP,
and currently have full decat with PPP backbox.
Verdict?
The first set up had a deeper burble, not noisey on normal driving,
v.nice sound. I only changed the BB 'cause the Remus isn't stainless throughout. You can have it for not much money if you want.
The second is deeper than OE, but totally unobtrusive....and I'm sticking with it![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
P.S I've a classic wagon & a 6 month old kid!!
