Check out this site, which is the first time I come across a titanium back box. Too bad not available for Scoob yet. Only half the weight of a stainless steel equivalent (around 5 kg vs. 10 kg). Saw a video demonstrating their unusual exhaust system which has a small turbo fan embedded in the tail pipe. The swirling exhaust gas apparently will exit faster than a smooth flowing one. This was supposedly proven by timing the outflow of a measured quantity of water in an inverted bottle and then repeating the same after giving the water a few good swirls. The latter took only about half the time as before. Thought it is not a fair illustration as swirling the water imparts outside kinetic energy to it, whereas putting a small turbo fan in the exhaust adds no external energy (law of conservation of energy?). Alternatively, maybe swirling the exhaust gas speeds it up and reduces the back pressure, giving an increase in bhp. They also gave RR test results before and after fitting of said back box and show significant improvements in bhp, so maybe they are onto a good thing afterall.

Note: this is their site in English, the original site is in Japanese. The video is not available from their site, it came as a free VCD with a Taiwanese car magazine (in Chinese and Japanese, unfortunately) that did a factory visit and review of their system.

Lokokkee,
I have a titanium exhaust on my Type UK Prodrive Sti-7. It is made by Subaru Sti and I got it through a UK import dealer, who got it from Japan.
It is standard fitment on the Sti-7 S202, which we don’t get over here.

I seen a Titanium exhaust that came of a crashed Jap STI7 in a local breakers. It was damaged unfortunately. You seriously would not believe the weight of it.
The entire system weighed about the same as a normal de-cat downpipe. Bloody light, and quite cool lookin

The top photo is the turbo fan at the end of the tailpipe, which supposedly can lead to better extraction of exhaust gas.
The bottom photo shows the (top) original Civic Type-R backbox weighing 8.44 kg, (middle) stainless steel Spec D Pro replacement at 4.62 kg and (bottom) Spec Ti titanium model at 1.88 kg, less than a quarter of the OEM one.

They look quite restrictive imo, quite a few bends in the pipework leading up to the backbox, personally I wouldnt go for it, compare the pics to say a HKS Hiper which has far less bends in it...
