I picked up my STI03 the other day and was told by the dealer that an aftermarket exhaust without an upgraded ECU can actually show loss of power due to the active valve control on the 2003 models

your advice........full of ****e or smart?

Check out the results on this thread. I guess that anything is possible, but does the dealer have any connection to a firm selling ECU upgrades?

Seriously the AVCS will be optomised for a given set of exhaust flow characteristics, but it is unlikely to be sent way out by a less restrictive system. However, an ECU upgrade can lead to significantly more power.
