Red face

I just ordered a K and N 57i induction kit and there are two models - he (shop owner) ordered the first one (I have a MY99 UK spec):

1. Impreza 2.0 Turbo 97-99 £81.25
2. Impreza 2.0 Turbo 99-00 (euro spec) £95.36

Will I be OK with number 1? What is the difference between the two and why the price difference?

Also, should I get a mini bonnet scoop to feed in cold air? I was thinking of using some ducting - anyone done this? gains?

Seeing as the 97/98 cars have the phase 1 engine, and the 99/00's have the phase 2, i'd have thought you want the second one!
However, I could be daft!

I would hazard a guess an say you need the 2nd one.

97-98 cars (UK spec) have an 80mm diameter MAF sensor. 99-00 cars have a 90mm diameter one. I think the Jap spec 97-98s (STis at least) had the bigger 90mm MAFs, which is why it mentions Euro spec.

Cheers

Rich

Interesting - I wonder why they mention MY99 on the first one.

I have searched through the archives and noticed that people had difficulty fitting the 80mm pipe onto the 90mm thingy - apparently some boiling water and vaseline sorts the problem - but then why the price difference?

I'll call em anyway and get my order rejigged...

Wink

Ok, I just paid £14 extra and got number 2 - hopefully I wont have to heat the pipes to make them fit!
