Hi all,

i have just fitted a prodrive ecu to my MY97 and notice that the boost isnt any higher than the standard ecu (peaking at 0.7 bar)... im aware that the boost doesnt have to be huge or anything cos theres other ways of creating the gains etc etc but i was just wondering if this is 'normal'?

im wondering if it might be something to do with the inline boost restrictor thingy. Ive just removed a dawes device (where this restrictor was absent) and have placed the restictor back into a new piece of pipe on the right hand side of the t piece, but im thinking this might be whats attenuating the boost. firstly, does it make a difference how long the pipe is (i havent cut yards of the stuff or anything, its probably two- three inches)? secondly, how critical is the size of the restrictor i.d.? the reason i ask this is that at present im using the restrictor from the pipe on my 94 wrx cos i cant find one from the pipe on the 97 (cant beleive i actually threw something away, i must be slipping!).

My dealer has posted me a new one for the 97 which should be here tommorow but he is saying that the restrictor size should be the same for the 97 with or without the PPP ecu but that is in conflict with some of the posts ive read here.. so any suggestions folks? whats the right way to do this?

the car is running a full decat and a JR panel filter if it helps..

best wishes and thanks in advance for any help,

m.

I believe it is 13.64PSI which is 0.9bar ish..
Standard was around 0.75bar so a slight increase.
So even if the figures are different you should get a similar increase from standard.

But that is when I had it on my 96 car with a TD05.

I think the 97 has the TD04 and slightly different boost level..
but not sure..

No change made to restrictor it still had the standard one.

Check for error codes and reset your ecu and double check your pipe work is correctly connected and has no leaks..

Error code checking and ECU reset is explained here

Thanks JGM, ill check my error code thingys tommorow and go from there. also good to know i have th correct restrictor. no leaks as far as i can tell, and all the pipe work looks sound, hard tro tell though i spose...

so should the pipe with restrictor in it be short then or does it not matter?

thanks again matey,
