Just been for an intermediate oil change, and the dealer here said that (at least in Europe) Castrol RS 10W60 isn't sold under that name anymore.

He put in Castrol TSW, and I checked the labels, and it's 10W60 with the same specs as the RS. Porsche/BMW approved, blah blah. Apparently the new name for RS.

He claims that most Castrol RS oil sold today will be at least 6 months old, if not older.

Can anyone confirm or deny this ? I can't find any info on the Castrol websites.

I got 4 4ltr cans of RS from castrol a couple of weeks ago. (I got the phone number from their website. It's 01954 231668.) Postage is free if you are mainland UK.

Interesting, it's called "Classic" oils now ?

That seems to confirm that RS is being replaced by TSW (could be TWS) no ?

I can feel some stocks needing to be unloaded

When you check a bottle of oil there is no exp.date.
And I also don't believe that oil has a limited date of use...(when buying an un-opened bottle of course)
I just had a servcice with a 5L can of Castrol RS 10w60 and I'm still running. So the next time I will check it if they use TRS then....

Thanks for the tip, you're right about it, some stocks will be unloaded...
