Question

As the above mod seems to be very popular at the moment, could someone tell me if it's necessary for me to do this to my P1??
The car has a full de-cat, and filter along with a custom Tek3 from BRD. The car was mapped as it is with the standard pump and reg, but would I honestly notice any improvements by doing these mods? Would the car need re-mapping, and would I have to pay again to have the map 'Tweaked' again???

Ps.. any idea of the cost of both reg and pump??

Cheers,

Pickle, if you do that then the fueling will need to be looked at, cost of a remap would depend on what else you decided to do, mail me with your thinking and I can then advise what, if any, cost might be incurred. Least that way you will get a definitive answer and not a speculative one.

cheers

pump was about £130 and reg kit (including pressure gauge) £90.

I guess the P1 could well have an uprated pump from my MY99 anyway?

Hmm, strange. I was advised by Branko at BRD, before I had my "Tek 3" done by them, that the fuel pump upgrade was advisable before ecutekking.

But if no problems have been found during a mapping session and the fueling is good and not causing issues then all it will do is lower your injector duties, in itself a pump/reg does not increase power or torque if you already have correct fueling and sensible injector duties, if you feel that you may uprate turbo/intercooler etc then you would need injectors to be changed and then, of course, pump/reg becomes essential.
There is nothing wrong with james fueling etc as it is and he does not want to change turbo or intercooler, his options therefore are to run with booster and use Optimax, or 97, if he does that then he will_get_gains as he is mapped for 97, still won't need to change anything though, his car has one of the "better" pumps already looking at his datalogs.
