Question

Now that I have my new clutch, I just need to have it fitted!!

I was talking to my pal who reckons he knows two guys that work for a subaru importer/garage that will fit it for £170 as a homer.

Now, I know that sounds reasonable for a garage to fit but I thought the idea with a homer was to do it cheap?

As I live in the north of Scotland, this price doesn't actually seem too good to me. I just need to know what anybody else thinks. Is this worth paying for or having fitted at a "proper" garage?

Anybody live nearme and fancy a homer?????

Any thoughts/advice greatfully received!!

Cheers,
Steve

I had a clutch fitted for £100 to my MY96. It was at a local garage, but the owner knows Scoobs well. (I live in the South East BTW)

£170 seems a bit expensive to me.

Given that the book time for subaru to change the clutch is somewhere in the region of 5 hours, as i am led to believe, and i was quoted £270 to change clutch and flywheel, then IMO it does not sound too bad, especially if you cant do it yourself.

The price for a subaru dealer that you quoted there isn't too bad. The only thing I'm worried about is that I don't know the guys personally so I don't know their quality of work.

If it was done on their work time then I would have some kind of comeback if it all went wrong.

I don't want to be paying close to the same price for a homer. I'd far rather have the peace of mind of having a warranty for that price.

Previous price of £100 is much closer to the mark I was expecting and even that was done on garage books.

Thanks for the input so far guys. The more comments I get, the better a judgement I can make.

I'm sure that sounds not too bad.

I remember Scoobylav got a stupid (high) quote to get a replacement for his scoob, somewhere in Perth.
