Not much metal between the bores! It looks like the liner rims are actually touching.

having seen the problems first hand with liner thickness on the 2.5, i wouldn't be keen on increasing the stroke of the 2.5 block to put even more pressure on the bores.

the 2.4L and the 2.6L are based on the 2.2L close deck block .....
