Hi guys, what is the best was to chip a 97 uk turbo. I was thinking of a superchip but was told by various people not to bother. Then i was gonna get it remapped but i cant find who will do a re map.
Any help would be appreciated and how much it would cost would be nice

I've heard bad things about the superchip likne for instance they don't remap correctly, instead just wind up the boost, engine leans out and dies....
Best way to go is probably...
http://www.brdevelopments.com/ for a Link / MoTeC
or
http://www.powerengineering.co.uk for Ecutek
and a decent map....

Depends what you want to do, and how much you want to spend
I think - but I'm not sure as I always forget the MY that it works with - the ScoobyECU guys are the people to talk to

EcuTeK only works with MY99 and onward, while I believe the ScoobyECU is for MY96 and earlier.
There are a couple of places that'll remap the MY97-8 cars. Think Power Engineering are one of them, so the link that Dr Jones provided should do the job.

ECUTek only available for 99 onwards
Scooby ECU for 93-96
Doesn't leave much for us 97-98 owners
Link/MOTEC/GEMS are probably the best ways to go, but why oh why oh why are people obsessed with remapping?
My 97 UK does 344bhp and 295lbsft on the OEM ECU
WHY get a mappable ECU at £1500+ when you are in the early stages of modding. Each time you change something else you'll have to remap it again to get your moneys worth. MY advice is do all the mods you can on the OEM ECU (taking the obvious precautions of course) THEN go for a mappable ECU to maximise the potential of all the mods you have done.
Sort the breathing, fuelling, intercooling etc etc. THEN get it remapped.
Cheers

Lol! Linkin Park on one speaker and Gorecki on the other!
Agree with your point regarding the necessity to remap. I think it's this year's trendy word! As long as you have boost gauge, KnockLink and AFR meter installed, there's no reason not to go as far as you can on the stock ECU.
However, once you reach that point, still think there's a space for remapping before you need to go as far as proper programmable ECU's like the Link, or especially the Motec, which costs a lot of money for a box that is slightly overkill on a roadcar.
