Morning guys, a pal of mine is thinking about this conversion.
We are talking taking out the existing STI gearbox and rear diff and dropping in the mad RA stuff.
Am I right in thinking all we will need would be the gearbox and diff from an RA of a similar vintage? Prop etc ok?
Tweenierob mentioned some differences regarding rear hubs and driveshafts?
The gearbox and diff have been sourced from a MY00 WRX Type RA Ltd, are there differences between the STI and WRX parts? He has been assured by the supplier that the RA stuff will go straight on.
What problems can you think of?
Thanks in advance
Paul
PS: anyone want to buy STI5 gearbox and rear diff? £600

Paul, I run an STi V3 as a hill climb car with 314 bhp etc. I am thinking of the same conversion as you are about to do. Bit of a cheek, but could you let me know if it really makes that much difference to justify the cost and hard work?
Finding the parts seems hard, did you find this to be so?
Thanks, Graham.

are we talking sti5 or sti5 "type-R"?????
diff size is diferent in my experiece with the "type-r" having the '180' type........
why don't you use the RA box with your original c/wheel ratio (4.4 as opposed to 4.1)......

I was going to do this conversion on my P1 and so phoned scoobysport. They said all that I would need is the rear diff and the gearbox. Didn't mention the prop so I don't know on that. But you wouldn't connect up the dccd if you have abs, its one or the other
