Question

can anyone tell me if magnex have recently changed the tail-pipe design on the above.

I had one a few years ago and the insert/baffle plate in the tail-pipe was flat and about 2" back from the tip.

I am looking at a second hand one at the moment and this insert , is flush right with the tip and is coned back rather than flat like my last one. the insert also seems a smaller bore than I remember although the rest looks the same.

cheers

I bought mine on a MY03 model, and was told that it’s the same as they were fitting them on the (Bugeye) MY01.

Hope the picture helps, ask if you want more detail

thanks ajax,

that is the same as the one I had years ago but totaly different to the one I am looking at now.

comparing with yours the insert, comes to the end of the tail-pipe and is coned back to a round bore, unlike yours which is flat and stays an oval, to match the tail-pipe.

it def came off a turbo car but I wondered if it was meant for a sport.

This sounds like (no pun intended) like the 6x4 magnex I used to have, it was very restrictive because it's only a 2" bore pipe in the tail pipe, nice and quiet on the M'way but pants otherwise, took a Dremel to mine, flowed better but sounded very odd! folks that know me will tell you what it was like. Binned it now and got a Ninja.

That's exactly what I did, burnt out a dremel, broke the next one and when I'd finally finished I thought what a waste of time. Don't bother just buy something else.
I also noted that if you read the code etched into the underside of it, it has R in the code I bet like mine did, flicking through the Demon Tweeks catalogue R was for 3.5" and O 6x4, I'm betting that they didn't have any proper 6x4 and just bodged some up! Thats my conspiracy theory anyway, but I'm bored at work!

thanks all,

do not know why magnex have changed to this design but it does sound like it is meant for a turbo.

I don't think it's even worth trying,if it is that restrictive

if I could post pictures I would have stuck one up as it really is a hellish design. very temped to attack it with a cutter and rip the guts out of it. you could do this with the older style but not sure if you could with this type.
